Las Galeras held its first three-kilometer road race on Sunday, September 27, 2026, bringing local runners and visitors through the community to a finish at Playa Grande.
According to De Último Minuto’s report by Estarlyn Carela, Eddy Santiesteban took first place. His prize was a two-night stay at Villa Ocama. Residents supported participants along the route, and local representatives attended the event.
The race had been announced for a 6:30 a.m. start. Advance coverage from Boletín Central described it as the closing activity of the third Verano Deportivo program, with awards also planned for athletes in other participating sports.
For Las Galeras, the event adds a community sporting activity to a destination usually associated with its beaches. Organizers hope to build on this first edition and attract runners from elsewhere in Samaná and the country, according to the published report. That ambition does not yet amount to a confirmed date for another race.
The event was also covered in a public report from Samana en Sintonía TV Digital. No finishing time or complete results table was included in the reports reviewed.
