Las Galeras has received a renovated public diagnostic center with new imaging and laboratory equipment, according to a Dominican Presidency announcement published on September 21, 2026.
The Servicio Nacional de Salud reported spending approximately RD$9.81 million across building work, furniture, and equipment at the Centro Clínico y Diagnóstico Las Galeras. Additions include a portable X-ray unit, an ultrasound system, microscopes, and laboratory centrifuges.
The renovation also covered roofing, electrical and plumbing installations, floors, doors, windows, and air conditioning. Officials said the improvements are intended to make diagnostic services more accessible to Las Galeras and nearby communities, reducing some trips to Samaná for tests.
A separate diagnostic center was also announced for Rincón. That project still faces a tendering process; the announcement described a target of starting construction before the end of December, rather than a confirmed opening date.
The official release does not list appointment procedures, opening hours, or patient fees. Residents should confirm those details directly with the center before arranging a visit.
